Chance Boaz does not know how we came to live in the Dzaleka refugee camp because he came when he was young, only eight years old. In 2016 he learned to play acoustic guitar in the camp, taught by another resident who has since moved to the United States. His favorite genre is rock music, and he writes original songs but also performs cover versions of other artists' music. He does both secular/social music and gospel to glorify God. He has performed in a range of settings that include church and various gatherings, including the Tumaini Festival. He often performs solo, but sometimes has a backing band. There are a lot of disadvantages in the camp that make things hard. Ultimately, he just wants people to support music in general and his art in particular.
